Does Medicine Actually Make People Live Longer?

The truth is our early ancestors didn’t all die at 30 — and medical science has given us less of a boost than you think.

We’re deeply invested in the myth that medicine has drastically increased the human lifespan and will continue to do so. As Lieberman pointed out, the health care industry heavily markets its own importance and pushes treating illness over preventing it with lifestyle modification. And humans are lazy; it’s easier to take pills than exercise.

VLA COMMENT: People are not really living longer today.  And at one time I would have said “people are living longer, but they are sick every step of the way”.  Dr. Bart Classen, stated that “We have not increased the health of the population.  Through vaccines we have exchanged infectious diseases for chronic illness”.  Infectious disease of every childhood type had already gone down prior to the introduction of vaccines.  See the pictorial graphs..
