From what I understand, Japan quit giving vaccines to babies under 18 months for a time and SIDS completely disappeared, though I cannot find and research on it.

When considering which babies could be most at risk, no single risk factor is likely to be sufficient to cause a SIDS death. Rather, several risk factors combined may contribute to cause an at-risk infant to die of SIDS.
Most deaths due to SIDS occur between 2 and 4 months of age, and incidence increases during cold weather. African-American infants are twice as likely and Native American infants are about three times more likely to die of SIDS than caucasian infants. More boys than girls fall victim to SIDS.
Other potential risk factors include:
smoking, drinking, or drug use during pregnancy
poor prenatal care
prematurity or low birth weight
mothers younger than 20
tobacco smoke exposure following birth
overheating from excessive sleepwear and bedding
stomach sleeping

George, who does the research, the people who make the vaccines? My daughter was made mentally handicapped following a “well-baby” vaccine at 7 mos. old, 23 years ago. For those that doubt there is an link between vaccines and SIDS take a look at the work of Viera Scheibner. Also research vaccine exemptions in your state. Our freedom to avoid these toxins are under direct assault and must be fought on every level. There is massive collusion between big government and big pharma to take away rights. GSK just settled for 3 billion admitting fraud and Mercks own researchers have recently blown the whistle on data for the mumps vaccine effectiveness being manipulated.
The same drop in SIDS occurred in Sweden in 1992 when thimerosal was removed from vaccines but this was also attributed to the stellar (sarcasm implied) Swedish program of training mothers to place sleeping infants on their backs. In fact, the improvement in SIDS deaths has hardly been examined based on vaccine exposure.
George, We need to ask ourselves why there are so many health conditions children have today that involve breathing and brain problems. They are clearly not born with it. If you lower the oxygen in the blood you decrease the blood flow to the brain. Many times these children get a very high fever. The reason why you get a fever is because when you have a cold, your bloodstream has to move really fast to deliver white blood cells to the areas with alot of viruses…..which the vaccines contain. @harley hooch: I agree with you–everyone should home-school their children–if possible–and not vaccinate–and teach them about God. I came from a large family.
My mother often placed infants on their stomach to sleep, and no one died of SIDS. I believe I read that Viera Scheibner found evidence that the pertussis vaccine affects the breathing in infants. I believe that SIDS is caused by vaccines; however, one possible factor to consider could also be flame retardant mattresses, which I understand contain chemicals.
Clinical bottom line
Autism rates in Japan continued to rise after the withdrawal of MMR vaccine.

Background
A link has been postulated between the specific use of the triple MMR vaccine and the rise of childhood autism. Though very considerable research has shown there to be no connection, some people continue to believe in such a link and they propose use of single vaccines instead. In Japan, MMR vaccine was introduced in 1989, but the programme was terminated in 1993 and only single vaccines used thereafter.
The experience of Japan therefore constitutes a real-world experiment of replacing triple MMR vaccine with single vaccines because of problems with production. If the proponents of a link between MMR and autism are correct, the result should be that cases of autism fall after withdrawal of MMR.
Study
The study was conducted in a part of Yokohama with a population of about 300,000, and which was stable, or reflected changes typical for Japanese society as a whole, over the period of the study. The population was served by a special centre (Yokohama Rehabilitation Centre) that included a developmental psychiatry unit with early intervention services for developmental disorders. There was in place an early detection and intervention system that included specific routine checkups at four, 18 and 36 months, working to defined diagnostic criteria. At 18 months, about 90% of children participated in the programme, but those who did not, or those who were missed by the programme, could be referred by nurseries, paediatric clinics, or other services. These services began in 1987, two years before introduction of MMR.
Not only did the study have specific diagnostic criteria, therefore, but also ensured a complete coverage of a defined population, consistently over a period covering the introduction and withdrawal of the triple MMR vaccine.
Each birth cohort from 1988 to 1996 was followed up to age seven years, and results presented for all autistic spectrum disorders, for autism, and for autism associated with regression. The cumulative incidence per 10,000 children for each diagnosis was calculated for each year.
Results
Over the whole period, and with full follow up to age seven years in birth cohorts from 1988 to 1996, 278 children developed autistic spectrum disorder, 158 autism, and 120 other autistic spectrum conditions. Of those with autism, 60 had definite regression and another 12 probable regression according to defined tests.
In the 1988 birth cohort, 70% of children had the MMR triple vaccine, falling to 1.8% in the 1992 birth cohort. Thereafter no children had the MMR triple vaccine (Figure 1).

The incidence of all autistic spectrum disorders, and of autism, continued to rise after MMR vaccine was discontinued. The incidence of autism was higher in children born after 1992 who were not vaccinated with MMR than in children born before 1992 who were vaccinated. The incidence of autism associated with regression was the same during the use of MMR and after it was discontinued.
The increase of autistic spectrum disorders was evident in children with higher IQ.
Comment
The increase in autism and autistic spectrum disorders in this part of Yokohama displays the same increase over time seen in other parts of the world. Here, though, the increase occurred even when the MMR vaccine was withdrawn. This destroys any possible causative link between use of the vaccine and autism.
Perhaps the most important features of the study were that it comprehensively covered a population, and that the population was served by a special service testing children for developmental; disorders and using standard methods over the whole period. The quality and validity of the study is superlative, and the size good.
Whatever causes autism, it is not the MMR vaccine.

The study you report is interesting, but it provides not proof for the conclusion it makes. Perhaps the MMR is sufficient, but not necessary to cause autism. That is, there could be many causes of autism, including the MMR. Removing the MMR, but increasing other vaccines — as was done in Japan during the time period of the study — could explain the result.

We parents of kids with disabilities would love to have unbiased research conducted into the possible link between vaccines and neurological disorders. You mention the MMR, but what about the entire schedule of vaccinations? No study has ever looked into the safety of giving infants so many shots so early in their little lives. An biased study comparing vaccinated with unvaccinated children is very much needed.

Unless you ignore anecdotal data and accept that scientific research (peer reviewed – duplicated results – leading universities) then this is a waste of time. If people want to believe anything that doesn’t fit their biases is a big pharma conspiracy then this will be a waste of time.

Vaccinations have individual reaction in babies, infants and children; depending upon a wide variety of factors: current health, breast or bottle fed, climate, other sources of nutrition; siblings and other exposures; age, health, and experience of the mother; and so on. The younger the infant the greater the impact vacs have on embryonic immune systems, and while depressed or damaged by the vac, other infections are caused, typically ear, nose and throat infections (tonsils and adenoids). Doctors give antibiotics, which eliminate much gut flora, which creates an opening for other bacteria to colonise en masse, and which produce toxins that cause digestive problems and brain damage (both temporary and permanent; but the temporary eventually becoming permenent). This complex set of reactions and circumstances causes the range of autism spectrum disorders, probably aggravated by brain damage inflicted by the mercury, formaldehyde, aluminium, squalene, polysorbate 80, phenoxethanol, sodium phosphte, and sulfites used as ajuvants in the vaccines; and by food preservatives 280 an 283. As Dr Natasha Campbell-MacBride discovered, by restoring gut flora she was able to actually cure her son of authism.
