Autoimmune Syndrome Induced by Adjuvant (ASIA) is a definition aimed to describe the common etiological process at the root of five clinical entities sharing similar symptomatology: macrophagic myofasciitis syndrome (MMF), GulfWar Syndrome (GWS), sick building syndrome (SBS), siliconosis, and post-vaccination autoimmune phenomena.

Novartis’s proprietary squalene adjuvant for their H1N1 vaccine is MF59. Glaxo’s is ASO3. MF59 has yet to be approved by the FDA for use in any U.S. vaccine, despite its history of use in other countries

VLA COMMENT: FLUAD PEDIATRICwith Squalene is being used in Canada based on literature review of experiments on the elderly 65 & older of which FLUAD is FDA approved. No doubt after experiments are done on infants and children in other countries, it will come to USA.
