Mexico: GMO Corn Ban and Glyphosate Cancer Findings

M-3-192x300

Twenty-two months ago, Mexico became a GM maize-free territory, when a Federal Judge issued the precautionary measure that suspended  authorizations to plant any genetically modified seeds of this grain, a staple food in the country, essential to its culture.

New Statistics: Fluoridation May Not Prevent Cavities

FB-10-3-14-toothpaste-banner

Earlier this year, even National Geographic stopped so low as to suggest anyone who questions water fluoridation is a conspiracy theorist.1 Yet, just last year Lancet Neurology released a study, authored by a Harvard doctor, among others, that classified fluoride as a developmental neurotoxin.Read more….

VLA Comment:  It has also been published in NEWSWEEK

EXCERPT from Newsweek:

You might think, then, that fluoridated water’s efficacy as a cavity preventer would be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. But new research suggests that assumption is dramatically misguided; while using fluoridated toothpaste has been proven to be good for oral health, consuming fluoridated water may have no positive impact.

The Cochrane Collaboration, a group of doctors and researchers known for their comprehensive reviews—which are widely regarded as the gold standard of scientific rigor in assessing effectiveness of public health policies—recently set out to find out if fluoridation reduces cavities. They reviewed every study done on fluoridation that they could find, and then winnowed down the collection to only the most comprehensive, well-designed and reliable papers. Then they analyzed these studies’ results, and published their conclusion in a review earlier this month.

WHO Report Author changes “probable carcinogen” to “Glyphosate is definitely genotoxic

RE: International death knoll about Monsanto’s Round Up and GMO agriculture

Glyphosate is “definitely genotoxic”, says Prof Chris Portier, a co-author of the report by the World Health Organization’s cancer agency, which classed glyphosate as a probable carcinogen.

Prof Christopher Portier, one of the co-authors of the recent report by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which determined that glyphosate is a “probable” carcinogen, said at a scientific briefing today, “Glyphosate is definitely genotoxic. There is no doubt in my mind.”

“Genotoxic” means it damages DNA. At a briefing, Dr Robin Mesnage of the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Kings College in London presented data showing Roundup is 1,000 times more toxic than glyphosate alone!  Read more…

Russia: “Our Aim is Clean Foods” No GMO imports or growing

Biotechnology-Engineer-Examining-Immature-Corn-Cob-GMO-Crop-Test

The future of agriculture in Russia won’t involve genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), says the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. In order to preserve the quality and integrity of its food supply, Russia plans to stick with growing methods that protect the soil and boost yields naturally, a move that Dvorkovich says will make his country’s food among the “cleanest in the world.”

Russia does not import GMOs like most of Europe currently does, nor does it grow them.

Alert: KALE superfood – a hyper-accumulator of heavy metals

landscape-1437075734-kale

Kale is heralded for its ample supplies of calcium, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin K, and various healthful phytochemicals and anti-oxidants. But the superfood is hiding a nasty secret: dangerous levels of heavy metals.

In a recent study, molecular biologist Ernie Hubbard found that kale—along with cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and collard greens—is a hyper-accumulator of heavy metals like thallium and cesium. What’s more, traces of nickel, lead, cadmium, aluminum, and arsenic are also common in greens, and this contamination affected both organic and standard produce samples.

The source? Its soil. “If it’s left in the ground, the leafy greens are going to take it up,” Hubbard told Craftmanship magazine. READ MORE…

WE ARE ENTERING THE SIXTH EXTINCTION: SOLUTIONS WITH FUNGI

PaulStamets-640x480

Paul Stamets, a leading mycologist, has discovered a way to keep insects off crops without the need for chemical-pesticides. Stamets’ “pesticide,” dubbed SMART pesticides, uses “entomopathogenic fungi (fungi that destroys insects).” It is able to control over 200,000 species of pests and he patented it back in 2006.  READ MORE…

Breaking News House Votes to Remove Country-of-Origin Labels on Meat Sold in U.S.

CHINA_Pork_Prices1

The House voted late Wednesday  (300-131)to remove country-of-origin labels on beef, pork and chicken sold in the U.S.,  WSJ

VLA comment:  Of course this also makes sense since China now owns the largest swine production in the United States having bought Smithfield.  The interesting good news is that Smithfield was using Ractopamine, a dangerous drug put in the animals’ feed, that has been banded in over 160 countries including China and now that China owns Smithfield, perhaps they will not be using Ractopamine any more.  Or, the may be just using Ractopamine for the USA market which was set up by Smithfield. See info on Ractopamine

BTW…the deadly drug, ractopamine,  is fed to the pigs sourced by the “natural Thyroid companies”. So, how natural is natural thyroid?
