I attended an afternoon lecture by Alanna…she is brilliant…a must read book on the solution of positioning land as a resource for people and food production as opposed to using land as a speculative commodity for personal gain. Solution: Taxing land so that it is not profitable investing it as simply a speculative commodity…concomitant with reducing/eliminating taxes on homes and labor. Fascinating read.
Russia will not import GMO products, the country’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said, adding that the nation has enough space and resources to produce organic food.
Moscow has no reason to encourage the production of genetically modified products or import them into the country, Medvedev told a congress of deputies from rural settlements on Saturday.

At last count there were some 200 federal agents from various agencies on the ground in Nevada and it appears that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of armed militia members will soon arrive to confront them. The Federal government will no doubt step up their efforts, as they are facing the possibility of a widespread rebellion resulting from their actions against a private citizen whose only “crime” was to graze his cattle on the land his family has used for this purpose for over a century. The delegation is traveling to Nevada to support a coalition of current serving Nevada legislators being organized by Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, of Las Vegas, to stand vigil at the Bundy ranch to prevent Federal Government provocation of violence resulting in another Ruby Ridge or Waco type incident. Hi, I have had people ask me to explain my dad’s stance on this BLM fight. Here it is in as simple of terms as I can explain it. There is so much to it, but here it s in a nut shell.
My great grandpa bought the rights to the Bunkerville allotment back in 1887 around there. Then he sold them to my grandpa who then turned them over to my dad in 1972. These men bought and paid for their rights to the range and also built waters, fences and roads to assure the servival of their cattle, all with their own money, not with tax dollars.
These rights to the land use is called preemptive rights. Some where down the line, to keep the cows from over grazing, came the bureau of land management. They were supposed to assist the ranchers in the management of their ranges while the ranchers paid a yearly allotment which was to be use to pay the BLM wages and to help with repaires and improvements of the ranches.
My dad did pay his grazing fees for years to the BLM until they were no longer using his fees to help him and to improve. Read more…
Federal Health Minister, Peter Dutton, will discuss the issue with his state counterparts in Brisbane tomorrow.
The minister vowed to tackle the problem while touring the north coast, where some communities have childhood vaccination rates below 50 per cent.
He says it might be time for the government to take a tougher stance.
“The Commonwealth obviously makes a series of payments around the Family Tax Benefit and parenting payments otherwise, and I’m considering very seriously about what options the Commonwealth has in withholding payments or providing further incentive to parents to have their children immunised,” Mr Dutton said.
“Because it is very important not only for their children, but for the rest of the community as well, particularly in a childcare or school setting.
“These conscientious objectors, now some people say that on religious grounds they refuse to have their children immunised, no such grounds exist.
“There is no religious reason for somebody not to immunize their children.”

There was a piece published by the New York Times recently written by Dr. Kristen Feemster (a pediatric infectious disease physician who profits from “professionally advising” pharmaceutical companies and feels that a parent’s decision not to vaccinate may warrant a call to Child Protective Services) that urged the scientific and public health communities to curtail vaccine exemptions. In case you’re wondering, a vaccine exemption allows an individual to forgo the vaccination for medical, religious, and sometimes philosophical reasons. The reason for trumping these rights?
