The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that vitamin K1 be given to the newborn. A single intramuscular dose of Vitamin K1 Injection 0.5 to 1 mg within one hour of birth is recommended.

What about oral Vitamin K?

Benzyl alcohol as a preservative in Bacteriostatic Sodium Chloride Injection has been associated with toxicity in newborns.

VLA Comment: How many neonates  have bleeding problems?  You would think that the Doctors would be able to tell if they are bleeding internally… and then perhaps the Vitamin K “medication” helps for a moment during the event.  If they want to give Vitamin K to every baby born…why don’t they just give them a squirt of CABBAGE JUICE, for heaven sakes.
