TDaP vaccine in Pregnant Women: 22% miscarriages
RESULTS: We identified 132 reports of Tdap administered to pregnant women; 55 (42%) described no adverse event (AE). No maternal or infant deaths were reported. The most frequent pregnancy-specific AE was spontaneous abortion in 22 (16.7%) reports. Injection site reactions were the most frequent non-pregnancy-specific AE found in 6 (4.5%) reports. One report with a major congenital anomaly (gastroschisis) was identified.
Vaccine Comments: Was the variable that the flu shot is also given to pregnant women identified?
Conclusion
During a time when Tdap was not routinely recommended in pregnancy, review of reports to VAERS in pregnant women after Tdap did not identify any concerning patterns in maternal, infant, or fetal outcomes. (I don’t understand this sentence…VLA)

Methods—Two independent clinical trials in healthy, vaccinia-naïve adult volunteers were conducted with the Aventis Pasteur smallpox vaccine (APSV). Volunteers were assessed repeatedly for local and systemic AEs to vaccine and were genotyped using the same panel of 1442 singlenucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).
IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY: FORMER ISU SCIENTIST FAKES HIV EXPERIMENTS…GOES TO JAIL
A former Iowa State University scientist who altered blood samples to make it appear he had achieved a breakthrough toward a potential vaccine against HIV was sentenced on Wednesday to more than 4 ½ years in prison for making false statements in research reports.
Dong-Pyou Han, 58, also must pay $7.2 million to a federal government agency that funded the research. He entered a plea agreement in February admitting guilt to two counts of making false statements.
Government prosecutors said Han’s misconduct dates to 2008 when he worked at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland under professor Michael Cho, who was leading a team testing an experimental HIV vaccine on rabbits.
