12 year old boy with toy gun shot dead by rookie Cleveland Policeman

CLEVELAND – The family of a 12-year-old boy fatally wounded by a Cleveland police officer said surveillance video of the shooting shows that if the officer had not acted so quickly the youngster would still be alive.

The video made public on Wednesday shows Tamir Rice being shot within 1½ to 2 seconds of a patrol car stopping near him at a park in Cleveland on Saturday. It shows the boy reaching in his waistband for what police discovered was a pellet gun that shoots non-lethal plastic projectiles. He died the next day.

police_deesBy age 18, 30 percent of black males, 26 percent of Hispanic males and 22 percent of white males have been arrested.  By age 23, 49 percent of black males, 44 percent of Hispanic males and 38 percent of white males have been arrested.
The negative impacts can be great, he says. “States vary on the age that adolescents are considered adults in the eyes of the criminal law, some as young as age 16 and 17,” he says. “Criminal records that show up in searches can impede employment, reduce access to housing, thwart admission to and financing for higher education and affect civic and volunteer activities such as voting or adoption. This 30 minute film is centered around the organizing efforts of more than 40 families of police brutality victims for a statewide march in Anaheim, California on July 21, 2013. The date was symbolically chosen as the one-year anniversary of the execution of Manuel Diaz by the Anaheim police and subsequent crackdown on the community.

No Justice, No Peace! features footage from significant demonstrations leading up to the July 21st action, including protests that shut down the Anaheim police station. The film also shows the organizing efforts of participants, interviews with families, attorneys and activists in the police brutality movement.

This documentary was made by Los Angeles filmmaker and California Institute of the Arts Ben Huff. It was co-filmed and produced by ANSWER activist and organizer Krissana Limlamai.

Father of 4 beaten to death with night sticks by nine sheriffs

A Bakersfield father of four died this week after struggling with nearly nine police officers outside of a medical facility. Witnesses say that the thirty-three year old pled for his life. Reports say he died early Wednesday morning after being struck by nine officers an unreported number of times. He was believed to be intoxicated. Some witnesses evidently filmed the incident on their cellphones. However, deputies were quick to confiscate the phones.Individuals who claim they saw the event in addition to Silva’s relatives recounted a scene where officers were beating a powerless man to death. Witnesses were outraged at video evidence being confiscated by deputies. Read more…


“You have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 sheriffs. The guy was laying on the floor and 8 sheriffs ran up and started beating him up with sticks. The man is dead right here right now. I got everything on video tape. This man was doing nothing. These cops had no reason to do this to this man.
