It appears this early Guinea-Bissau study foreshadowed a line of documented injury and mortality caused by the DPT. A 2000 BMJ article found that a population of vaccinated infants, also from Guinea-Bissau, receiving one dose of DTP or polio vaccines had higher mortality than children who had received none of these vaccines. A 2004 observational study showed a doubling of the mortality rate of infants vaccinated with the single dose of DPT vaccine and increasing mortality rates after the second and third doses.[iii] A 2011 study of Guinea-Bissau females found DTP vaccine administered simultaneously with measles vaccine is also associated with increased morbidity and poor growth in girls.[iv].

In the United States, the DTP vaccine received major public spotlight and pushback after the 1985 book DPT: A Shot in the Dark was published tracing its development and describing its risks. Recently complied reports show settlements of injury and deaths from the TDap, DTP, and DPT vaccines within the United States Vaccine Court jumped 75% from $5.5 million in 2014 to $9.8 million in 2015.  Read more…

Australia considers childcare ban on unvaccinated children

Vaccinating children is not a legal requirement in Australia, but failing to do so makes parents ineligible for childcare rebates. Three Australian states – Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria – already require children to be immunized, or be on an approved catch-up programm, to enroll in childcare centers.

MUMPS OUTBREAK in Arkansas

A mumps outbreak in Arkansas continues to grow at an alarming rate. As of December 8th, the total number of suspected and confirmed cases of mumps in Arkansas now stands at 1,898. In Arkansas alone, the number of cases reported exceeds that of the national total for 2015. Of great concern in this outbreak, 90% to 95% of school-aged children and 30% to 40% of adults involved in the outbreak have been fully immunized. Read More…

VLA Comment: Isn’t it interesting that when 50% of the outbreak cases are already vaccinated (MMR) we don’t hear about it much.  This just substantiates the little value of the MMR.

The researchers concluded that someone who’d received the flu vaccine within the last year “were also associated with incident diagnoses of AN, OCD, and an anxiety disorder.” These findings greatly expand the common understandings that vaccines are related to Autism and now include the other three brain-based illnesses. CDC Emerging Infectious Diseases

The effects of whole-cell pertussis vaccine wane after 5 to 10 years, and infection in a vaccinated person causes nonspecific symptoms (3–7). Vaccinated adolescents and adults may serve as reservoirs for silent infection and become potential transmitters to unprotected infants (3–11). The whole-cell vaccine for pertussis is protective only against clinical disease, not against infection (15–17). Therefore, even young, recently vaccinated children may serve as reservoirs and potential transmitters of infection.

We found that immunity does not even persist into early childhood in some cases. We also observed that DPT vaccine does not fully protect children against the level of clinical disease defined by WHO. Our results indicate that children ages 5-6 years and possibly younger, ages 2-3 years, play a role as silent reservoirs in the transmission of pertussis in the community. Read Study…
